Denza Z9GT coming to Malaysia, here's what to expect?

BYD’s premium sub-brand, Denza, made its grand entry into the Malaysian market with the launch of the D9 in early 2025, garnering much love and attention. Now, after a year, the brand is prepping for its next big launch in the country.

We are talking about the Denza Z9GT, which was previewed during the D9’s launch ceremony. It is a shooting brake Grand Tourer that features an e3 Platform and European-influenced design, and brings many unique features to the premium market.

Denza recently launched a new global campaign for the EV, featuring Daniel Craig and confirmed its Malaysian arrival for 2026. 

While we are waiting for official details to drop, it’s a good time to take a look at what the upcoming Denza D9GT is expected to offer. 

Powered by the e3 Platform

The Z9GT underpins the specifically created e3 Platform, which features a number of world-first and class-leading functions, based on four core technologies: three-motor independent drive, active rear wheel steering, Cell-to-Body battery integration, and Vehicle Motion Control.

These advanced technologies give this electric shooting brake some unique capabilities, like a tight turning circle, crab-walking functionality, and quick response for better performance.

Head-turning looks

The upcoming Denza Z9GT is a four-door GT with a hatchback-style opening, reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo. With clean, aerodynamic lines, the EV features a low and aerodynamic silhouette that exudes balance and power. It comes with 108-zone ADB headlights with a striking single-side design, giving the front fascia a bold, high-tech presence in both day and night.

With over 5 metres in length, the electric hooting brake has large proportions, exuding a premium executive-class stance.

Designed for comfort, the Denza Z9GT has a spacious cabin equipped with intelligent technologies and a smart cockpit, aimed at offering an elevated driving experience. Globally, the EV comes equipped with soft materials and Nappa leather seats, and a wide range of advanced creature comforts - 

• Three screens – a 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch ‘floating’ central infotainment unit and a 13.2-inch front passenger display

Supercar-level performance

In China, the Denza Z9GT comes in both a fully electric and a plug-in hybrid drivetrain option; however, for the local market, the automaker is expected to offer only the pure EV version, as that was the one previewed last year.

Advanced suspension setup 

The upcoming Denza EV rides on an advanced DiSus-C adaptive suspension setup with an optional DiSus-A air suspension system, promising a balance of comfort, stability and dynamic performance. 

The former adjusts the firmness of the shock absorbers in real time and offers improved handling and stability. It actively manages vertical motion to tweak shock absorber behaviour as per the driving conditions. However, the air-suspension unit uses a front camera to scan the road ahead and enable the vehicle to raise or lower itself if any imperfection occurs.
