Denza Z9GT launching in Malaysia on 15 July, here's everything we know so far

KUALA LUMPUR: The wait is nearly over. The Denza Z9GT, the shooting brake flagship that's been teased, previewed and spotted on transporters for months now, will officially launch in Malaysia on 15 July 2026.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will the Denza Z9GT launch in Malaysia?

The Denza Z9GT will officially launch in Malaysia on 15 July 2026, marking its Asia Pacific debut. Public viewing and test drives begin at all Denza Premium showrooms nationwide from 16 July 2026.
  • How powerful is the Denza Z9GT?

The Malaysian-spec Z9GT uses a tri-motor all-wheel drive system producing up to 850 kW, equivalent to 1,156 PS, and 1,210 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
  • Malaysia gets the honour of hosting the car's Asia Pacific debut, and from 16 July onwards, you'll be able to walk into any Denza Premium showroom nationwide to see it in the metal and book a test drive.

This will be Denza's third model here after the D9 MPV and the B8 off-roader, and it's easily the most ambitious of the lot. So before the covers come off next week, here's a recap of what we know about the Malaysia-bound Z9GT so far.

Supercar numbers in a wagon body

The Z9GT arriving here runs on Denza's new e3 Platform, a first for the brand, and the headline figures are frankly absurd for something shaped like an estate.

A tri-motor all-wheel drive setup produces up to 850 kW, which works out to 1,156 PS and 1,210 Nm of torque. The century sprint is done in 2.7 seconds, and Denza claims up to 701 km of range on the NEDC cycle.

But the party tricks might be more interesting than the straight-line pace. Rear axle steering of up to 15 degrees gives this 5.18-metre-long car a turning radius of just 4.62 metres, which is tighter than plenty of B-segment hatchbacks.

There's also e3 Parking, Crab Mode for diagonal movement, and a Pencil Compass Turn function that pivots the car into tight spots by rotating the rear wheels while the fronts stay put. Vehicle Motion Control ties it all together, and DiSUS-A dual chamber air suspension handles the ride, constantly adjusting damping and stiffness to suit the road.

First in Malaysia with Flash Charging

The Malaysian-spec Z9GT will be the first model here to carry BYD's Second Generation Blade Battery 2.0. It's a 122.49 kWh pack running on a 1,000 V architecture, and that high-voltage setup unlocks the big one: BYD Flash Charging.

The claims are eye-opening. From 10 to 70 percent in five minutes, and 10 to 97 percent in nine. If that holds up in the real world, it fundamentally changes the conversation around EV ownership in Malaysia, because a full top-up would take about as long as a petrol stop and a teh tarik.

The new battery also packs roughly five percent more energy density than the previous generation, and it's been through the usual Blade Battery torture tests, including nail penetration, without drama. On the infrastructure side, BYD Malaysia says Flash Charging stations will be rolled out progressively at selected Denza Premium showrooms to support the car.

    What's inside

Denza calls the design philosophy 'Elegance in Motion', and the silk-inspired silhouette is dressed up with Dual Line LED headlamps, Hourglass taillights and Meteor Welcome Lighting. Inside, you get genuine leather, real wood trim, electrically operated soft-close doors, and front seats with active side bolsters that grip you during hard cornering.

The convenience list is long. Dual 50W wireless charging pads up front, another 50W pad in the rear armrest, a 20-speaker Devialet sound system, and a compressor refrigerator that can heat as well as chill. Boot space is a useful 495 litres, plus another 53 litres under the bonnet. The infotainment runs on a 3nm processor, which Denza says is an industry first, with Google built in.

How much will it cost in Malaysia?

Denza Malaysia hasn't confirmed pricing yet, and that's the big reveal we're waiting on come 15 July. Industry estimates suggest something above RM360k but below the B8, which currently sits between RM460k and RM520k.

That would position the Z9GT in interesting territory against the Porsche Taycan and BMW i5 eDrive40, both of which cost significantly more while offering far less power.

For Malaysian buyers keen to be among the first, registration of interest is already open. We'll have full coverage of the launch, so stay tuned for confirmed pricing, variants and our first impressions when the Z9GT officially goes on sale in Malaysia next week.
