Facelifted Mazda 6 receives product update; price starts at RM 174k

KUALA LUMPUR: It was in August 2018 that Mazda launched the facelifted Mazda 6 sedan and wagon. And now the car gets a product update for the year 2019, in the form of improved convenience features and driving dynamics. Under the hood, both the sedan and wagon variants continue to be powered by naturally-aspirated petrol powerplants (162 hp/213 Nm 2.0-litre and 192 hp/450 Nm 2.5-litre) and turbodiesel 2.5-litre unit.

The Mazda 6 now features GVC (G-Vectoring Control) Plus, the same system that made its debut in the CX-5. The original G-Vectoring control varied engine torque in response to steering wheel inputs to provide longitudinal acceleration forces and integrated control of the steering. Also, it optimizes the vertical load on each wheel for efficient and smooth vehicle motion. As for the GVC Plus, it uses the brakes for better handling stability.

According to Mazda, the said system itself realizes smooth transition between yaw, pitch, and roll. It works even under high cornering forces, thus improving the vehicle’s ability to track crispy exit corners and steering inputs accurately. Also, the GVC Plus provides a reassuring feeling when driving through slippery surfaces and changing lanes.

Besides, the Mazda 6 also receives Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard, and they are accessible through an 8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system. As a benefit, the driver can use apps like Spotify, Waze, and Google Maps from their smartphones.

Like the previous-gen model, the Mazda 6 facelift lineup consists of four CBU trims -

• 2.0L Sedan at RM 173,659
• 2.5L Sedan at RM 211,148
• 2.5L Touring at RM 215,148
• 2.2L Diesel Sedan at RM 219,851

The car is offered in several color options - Snowflake White Pearl, Soul Red Crystal, Jet Black, Deep Crystal Blue, Titanium Flash, and Sonic Silver.
