Ford Ranger 2.2L XLT Special Edition debuts in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford has introduced the new Ranger 2.2L XLT Special Edition in Malaysia through its official distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC). According to the company, the special edition vehicle will be available in limited numbers. However, the actual number of units to be headed to production is not confirmed yet.

Ford Ranger 2.2L XLT Special Edition is based on the standard 2.2 XLT Automatic variant. Being the special edition, it gest several additional features and design elements.

Design-wise, the Ranger Special Edition comes with geometrical decals and fender flares as the additional features. It is available in two different colour options - Arctic White and Absolute Black. There is a new nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system inside the cabin.

The standard 4.2-inch head unit is now upgraded and gets the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. One can also use selected applications like Waze, Spotify, Google Chrome and YouTube through a hotspot connection.

However, the rest of the features are the same as the 2.2 XLT Automatic. These include halogen projector headlamps with daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, 17-inch wheels, a reverse camera and fabric seats.

Ford Ranger 2.2L XLT Special Edition is equipped with a 2.2L TDCi VGT Puma four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 160 PS along with a peak torque of 385 Nm.

The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine comes with an all-wheel-drive system. There is an electronic-locking rear differential and on-the-fly shifting too.

The Ford special edition car comes with a lot of safety features including two airbags, ABS, ESC, EBD, Hill Descent Control, EBA, Hill Launch Assist, Rollover Mitigation, Isofix child seat mounts, Adaptive Load Control and Trailer Sway Control.

Ford Ranger 2.2L XLT Special Edition comes with a price tag of RM 120,888, which is RM 4,000 more than the standard one. It comes with a three year or 100,000-km warranty.
