GAC Malaysia opens pre-bookings for EMKOO SUV and M8 PHEV MPV

KUALA LUMPUR: GAC Malaysia has kicked off pre-sales for two of its most talked-about models – the GAC EMKOO C-SUV and the GAC M8 PHEV flagship MPV – with estimated prices and full specifications now public.

The EMKOO, GAC’s second locally assembled SUV in Malaysia, can be booked in two trims: the Premium from RM120,000 and the Premium Pro from RM130,000 (estimated).

Both are powered by a 1.5TGDI engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, offering a blend of turbocharged performance and efficiency. Buyers will get a 5-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, plus a 7-year or 180,000km engine and powertrain warranty, whichever comes first.

With its sharp “future-style” exterior, spacious cabin, and class-leading boot capacity, the EMKOO is targeted at drivers wanting standout design with practicality. The first customer deliveries are expected by the end of September 2025, and possibly earlier.

Meanwhile, the fully imported GAC M8 PHEV enters the premium MPV segment with an estimated RM333,000 price tag for the Premium variant and RM380,000 for the Luxury.

Its plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with a two-step dedicated hybrid transmission, promising a best-in-class combined driving range of 1,038km. Buyers get a 5-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 150,000km battery warranty.

Datuk Remy Ishak joins GAC Malaysia as brand ambassador

Alongside the pre-sales push, GAC Malaysia officially welcomed award-winning actor Datuk Remy Ishak as its newest brand ambassador, joining radio DJ and actor Jack Lim. The announcement was made at the same event in 1 Utama.

Remy, known for his breakout role in “Nurkasih” and his steady presence in Malaysian entertainment, said he was drawn to GAC’s bold design language and innovation. “I’m truly honoured to join a brand that not only matches my lifestyle and driving aspirations but also dares to stand out. I look forward to this exciting journey with GAC Malaysia,” he said.

GAC Malaysia CEO Tan Keng Meng praised both ambassadors for embodying the brand’s mix of style and reliability. He credited Jack Lim for playing a vital role in introducing the GAC GS3 EMZOOM to the public and said Remy’s charisma and professionalism make him a perfect fit as the company expands locally.

As part of the event, symbolic EMKOO keys were handed to both Remy and Jack, who will be among the first to take delivery of the SUV in Malaysia.
