Get ready! BYD Malaysia set to unveil its next EV soon
KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Malaysia is absolutely on a roll, introducing new and latest models back to back in the country. Just after launching the new Seal last month, the Chinese automaker is now gearing up for the next launch.

BYD Sealion 6 DM-i

It is a five-seater plug-in hybrid SUV featuring the brand’s Dual Mode Intelligence (DM‑i) system. The EV is based on the automaker’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture and measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height. The wheelbase is estimated at 2,765 mm.
The drivetrain setup combines an FWD e-motor and a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine, generating a total system output of 218 PS and 300 Nm. Also part of the plug-in system is an 18.3 kWh BYD Blade battery that offers an all-electric range of 92 km on a single charge.
The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i price in Thailand begins at THB 939,900 (approx RM 119k).
BYD Seal 06
Photo from BYDAnother BYD EV that has ‘6’ in its name is the Seal 06. It comes in three different versions - Seal 06 DM-i, Seal 06 EV, and Seal 06 GT. The EV is built on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo and comes in two battery options - 46.08 kWh and 56.64 kWh, offering a range of 470 km and 545 km, respectively.
BYD Shark 6
Photo from BYDThe next option is the BYD Shark 6, which also made its debut in Thailand recently. However, the automaker is currently assessing the viability of introducing the pickup truck to the local market, suggesting that it may take longer to arrive on our shores.
The Thai-spec model comes equipped with a Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid drivetrain comprising a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine and two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, generating a total output of 436 PS and 650 Nm. The pickup offers an electric-only range of up to 100 km.
