Honda Civic Type R gifted to His Majesty Agong

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier today Honda Malaysia gifted a brand-new Civic Type R to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. The Honda hot hatchback will work as Agong’s escort car and is a gift given by the automaker on the celebration of king’s official birthday.

Toichi Ishiyama, Honda Malaysia CEO and MD said, “At Honda, we are committed to offer products that are of high value and also advanced in technology to provide joy to our customers. On behalf of Honda Malaysia, I am truly honoured to present the Civic Type R to His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong for his daily use as an escort car. Adding to the celebration, I am also pleased to present another revolutionary Honda model, the Civic 1.5L Turbo to Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong as an escort car.”

In addition, the automaker also offered a Civic 1.5T to Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and it too will be used as an escort car.

When launched back in 2017, the FK8 Civic Type R was a front-wheel-drive car with a Nurburgring lap record. The hot hatch is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC turbo mill that pumps out a maximum power of 310 hp along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. The powerplant is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission system that transmits power to the front wheels.
