Honda HR-V: Maintenance guide

Honda HR-V: Maintenance guide

Honda HR-V is a stylish and modern compact SUV available in our market since 2015. Considering its long list of features, no wonder it brought some good sales figures for the company. Perhaps, that’s why Honda decided to give it a facelift in 2019 and make it that much more desirable by the customers and capable to compete with the rivals.

How many variants are there?

Honda HR-V is available in four variants - 1.8L E, 1.8L V, 1.5L V Hybrid, and RS. It is good to see that Honda has included a hybrid variant even though people still remain sceptical about owning one. We also like the fact that there’s a sportier RS version available for the enthusiasts.

As a result, chances of you getting stuck in your Honda HR-V in the middle of the night reduces.

Maintenance tip 2 - Drive sanely

Your HR-V’s health depends a lot on the way you drive it. Yes, we understand that 142 horsepower is quite a handful for our cities and you get tempted to use all of it. While doing it once in a while is acceptable, revving the nuts out of the engine isn’t advisable. And it won’t be just the engine taking the beating, going fast means you need to use the brakes more often and harder than usual, your tyres would need to do much more work to keep you intact with the ground; there are many things related. In short, drive sanely and sensibly to get the most out of your HR-V and spend less on its maintenance.

Maintenance tip 3 - Keep it clean

Keeping your Honda HR-V clean and tidy is one of the basic maintenance tips you can follow. A clean car is a happy car and consequently, a happy you. We are not saying you should wash your HR-V the first thing in the morning daily. Just ensure that all the dirt, dust, mud, etc. are removed once in two weeks or at least in a month. The objective is to prevent your car to die a slow death by rusting. Also, there’s no harm in having a clean car, right? It reflects your personality, too.

Honda HR-V tyre care

Maintenance tip 4 - Check tyre condition and pressure

Most people don’t pay much heed to their car’s tyres. Perhaps, because tyres are located below and not considered a part that needs any kind of maintenance. Well, that’s false. Look at it this way, tyres are the only element of your Honda HR-V in contact with the ground underneath. They take umpteen revolutions each day, covering many miles. It means that they are under load and working 24x7 all year long. Don’t you think they deserve your attention?

Make sure you inspect the tyres every now and then for any sign of wear, say tread depth or major cracks. Also, maintain the recommended tyre pressure which you would find in Honda HR-V’s owners manual. Believe us, this habit will improve your HR-V’s performance, mileage, ride quality, and even braking.

These were a few and not the only basic maintenance tips that everyone should follow to increase their car’s life. There are many other similar tips and tasks that you can do by yourself to maintain your ride. Do you know what are they? Let us know in the comments.
