Hyundai STARIA now locally assembled in Malaysia, priced from RM179,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has officially kicked off sales of the locally assembled Hyundai STARIA, marking the brand’s first made-in-Malaysia model and a major step forward for its local operations.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much is the Hyundai STARIA in Malaysia?

The locally assembled Hyundai STARIA is priced from RM179,888. Despite now being CKD, the MPV retains its global specifications and premium features.
  • Is there any promotion for the Hyundai STARIA in Malaysia?

Yes. Hyundai’s year-end campaign includes free servicing or cash rewards, rebates up to RM5,000, lifestyle vouchers, and a complimentary AutoPro Package upgrade with Tokio Marine Insurans.
  • The STARIA is now built at Inokom’s Sime Motors assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah — the same plant responsible for several regional CKD projects. This makes it the first vehicle produced under Hyundai Motor Malaysia since the company’s establishment earlier this year.

“The commencement of local production for the Hyundai STARIA is more than just a production achievement. It represents Hyundai’s confidence in Malaysia as an important market and a growing hub for future assembly,” said Eric Lee, President of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

Inokom’s Managing Director, Sui Keng Huat, added that every unit produced at the Kulim plant meets Hyundai’s global quality standards and is “driven entirely by 100 percent Malaysian talent.”

The CKD STARIA retains the same specifications and pricing as before, starting at RM 179,888. Four colours are available — Jet Black, Snow Flake White Pearl, Meteor Grey, and Stormy Sea.

Buyers get the same premium cabin, comprehensive safety suite, and the distinctive spaceship-like design that’s made the STARIA stand out in its class. Hyundai is backing it with an 8-year / 160,000 km warranty and free labour for up to eight scheduled services, maintaining the brand’s reputation for strong aftersales support.

    Year-End Deals

To celebrate the start of local production, HMY is running a year-end campaign offering:

    • Free parts and labour for eight services or a RM 6,000 cash reward

    • RM 5,000 discount on selected variants

    • Up to RM 2,000 in Lifestyle Vouchers via myHyundaiRewards or a RM 1,500 bonus

    • Free accessories and a complimentary AutoPro Package upgrade with Tokio Marine Insurans (M) Berhad

HMY says local assembly is just the start of a longer-term plan to strengthen its presence and contribute to Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem through jobs, local supply chains, and technology transfer.

“We made a bold statement when we established Hyundai Motor Malaysia — that we are Here to Stay. And that means stability, trust, and a long-term presence in Malaysia,” said Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Malaysia. “It means investing in local production, working hand-in-hand with our partners and the government, and most importantly, delivering on the promises we’ve made — while setting new ones for the future.”

The CKD STARIA represents that promise in motion — proof that Hyundai’s commitment goes beyond imports and into meaningful local investment. With local production underway, the STARIA is now on sale at Hyundai showrooms nationwide.
