Indonesia gets the all-new 2022 Toyota Yaris GR Sport

KUALA LUMPUR: In case you didn’t know, Toyota will not be offering TRD Sportivo models in Indonesia. The entire segment has now been rebranded to GR Sport. So, all the models in the Toyota Indonesia lineup from Agya to Fortuner are rebranded. Here we’ll be talking about one such model, the Yaris GR Sport.

In Indonesia, the Yaris GR Sport is being offered in two variants - the base level 1.5 S MT and range-topping 1.5 S CVT, both these versions are offered in two trims - three- and seven-airbags. So, in total four Yaris GR Sport models are available.

In terms of looks, the new Yaris GR Sport looks similar to the previous Yaris TRD Sportivo, so major revisions on the outside and inside. Its sportier body kit features elements like - a front lip, GR Sport side skirts, roof spoiler, and rear lip with integrated diffuser. All models ride on standard 16-inch wheels.

Its exterior shade card includes seven options - Attitude Black Mica, Citrus Mica, Super White, Orange, Silver, Red Mica, and Grey.

Open the gate and you will see red contrast accents on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, door inserts, fabric seat, and centre armrest. All four variants feature a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also, shift paddles are part of the CVT variant kit.

What powers the new Toyota Yaris GR Sport?

The Yaris GR Sport is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder VVT-i engine that pumps out a maximum power of 107 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm.
The power is sent on the wheels via a 5-speed manual or CVT with seven virtual ratios.

On the safety front, the Yaris GR Sport benefits from ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchor points on rear seats.
