Proton e.MAS 7 hits 7,413 units sold, e.MAS 5 bookings surpass 10,000 nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: PRO-NET, the electric vehicle arm under national automaker Proton, has reached another milestone in its EV rollout. As of October 31, 2025, the Proton e.MAS 7 has recorded total sales of 7,413 units — 6,954 sold locally and 459 exported — maintaining its position as Malaysia’s best-selling EV for ten straight months.

At the same time, the newly launched Proton e.MAS 5, introduced as Malaysia’s first affordable electric car, has already amassed over 10,000 bookings. The strong response suggests local buyers are becoming increasingly comfortable making the switch to electric mobility, especially when the price is within reach.

“We are truly humbled by the continued support Malaysians have shown towards both the Proton e.MAS 7 and now, the Proton e.MAS 5 as well,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “Every booking received is the mark of trust that Malaysians have in us to deliver the e.MAS 5 at the highest standards. As the national automaker, we will continue to uphold our responsibility to make electric mobility more accessible and reliable.”

So far, demand for the e.MAS 5 has been strongest in the Central region, followed by Southern and Northern Malaysia. Interest from East Malaysia and the East Coast continues to rise, reflecting how quickly the idea of an attainable EV is spreading nationwide.

Dealers report that most buyers are working professionals choosing the e.MAS 5 as their daily car, while many others are taking advantage of Proton’s Power Trade-In programme, which adds an extra RM1,000 rebate for existing car owners.

A growing number of customers are also buying it as a second household vehicle, while younger, first-time buyers are being drawn in by the combination of low running costs and everyday usability.

Why buyers are gravitating to the e.MAS 5

According to Proton, early customer feedback highlights affordability, practicality, and user-friendly technology as the car’s biggest draws. Compact, easy to live with, and equipped with smart features, the e.MAS 5 appears to strike a balance between price and modern functionality — a key reason it’s resonating with Malaysians looking for an entry point into EV ownership.

To sweeten the deal, Proton is offering a RM3,000 launch rebate until December 31, 2025, along with a launch package worth up to RM8,000. The bundle includes a free 7kW home charger, five years of unlimited internet data, and several ownership perks designed to make the transition to EVs less intimidating.
