Lamborghini Urus hits 10k production milestone

KUALA LUMPUR: Another feather gets added to Lamborghini's hat. However, this time it's not a Nurburgring record or an all-out performance timing, but a production milestone. Lamborghini has rolled out Urus's 10,000th unit of its production line in Sant'Agata Bolognese, making Urus SUV the first car ever to cross the 10k production mark in just two years of launch.

The Huracan, the current best-selling model in the automaker's lineup took four years to reach the 10k milestone. Also, it took Huracan five years to surpass Gallordo's 14,022 units production milestone, with sales still climbing. Now, seeing Urus performance, we feel it'll soon overtake Huracan in these metrics.

In 2019, Urus helped Lamborghini accomplish its highest sales figure ever. We are talking about a 43 percent jump over the previous year's sales performance. The SUV accounted for more than half of the total cars Lamborghini sold that year.

Lamborghini Urus' achievements don't come as a surprise, as it is indeed a powerful car with a lot of potential. In fact, in its first year itself, Lamborghini sold 4,962 units of the SUV globally. Taking about its performance figures, the SUV is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 naturally-aspirated engine making 650 PS of power and 850 Nm of torque. The car can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds, while the 200 kmph mark gets hit at 12.8 seconds. With a top speed of 305 kmph, it was crowned as the world's fastest car; however, Bentley Bentayga Speed later took the glory aways with a top speed of 306 kmph.

Coming back to the record setting Urus, it was ordered by a Russian customer. Making the 10k unit distinguishable is the matt black tone that the company calls Nero Notis Matt. The car also benefits from two-tone black/orange interiors and exterior carbon fibre package.
