Malaysia-bound Chery Tiggo 4 Pro grabs 5-star ANCAP rating

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery is the third largest non-national car brand in Malaysia that offers an exciting range of SUVs, including the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Omoda 5. The Chinese automaker will be expanding its local lineup this year with the launch of the Tiggo 4 Pro. Let’s take a look at how safe is this upcoming Chery SUV -

The Chery Tiggo 4 has recently received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). It is to be noted that the SUV has not been crash-tested by the agency, rather the results are based on testing of its partner model, the Tiggo 7 Pro, which was tested and rated in late 2023.

However, ANCAP conducted some additional tests such as autonomous emergency braking and lane support, and revealed technical details to confirm that the test results of the Tiggo 7 Pro also apply to the Tiggo 4 Pro. 

The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro achieved the following scores across the different categories -

Chery Tiggo 4 Pro: What to expect

• Positioned below the Omoda 5, the upcoming Tiggo 4 Pro is a pint-size SUV measuring 4,318 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height.
• With a design language aligned with its bigger Tiggo siblings, the Tiggo 4 features a bold face incorporating a large and angular studded grille, slim headlights, and vertical daytime running lights.
• Adding to the striking appearance is a full-width LED light bar at the rear, 17-inch two-tone five-spoke alloys, and chrome trims. 
• The Malaysia-spec model is expected to come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque.

• Standard feature kit may include - a 7.0-inch LCD instrument console, a 10.25-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree around view monitor, a sunroof, a powered driver seat, and the advanced safety systems mentioned above.
