Kuala Lumpur: Mazda CX-3 is live in Malaysia, Only 2000 units imported with limited stock left! in Malaysia was quite an anticipated event that marked a new beginning of the Crossover segment in the country. The much-awaited car will be on the roll-out pretty fast, Bermaz motors anticipate that the 2000 CBU units imported from Japan will be sold out in just a period of two months. The CX-3 Malaysia is a completely build up unit directly imported from Mazda's main plant located in Hiroshima, Japan.

The CX-3 is also being produced at the AutoAlliance Plant in Rayong to meet its high demand across the globe. However, Datuk Seri Ben Yeoh, CEO of Bermaz motor said at the press conference that Mazda Malaysia will not be importing the Mazda CX3 from the Thailand because they are unable to meet the requirement of 40% local content to be exempted from the tariff as per the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA). Besides that, Malaysia has a free-trade agreement with Japan that allows the Bermaz Motors to avail more incentives when they import from Japan.

Bermaz is also planning to assemble the car locally as its Hiroshima plant is already working at its full capacity. The Japanese manufacturer is pursuing to produce a CKD model of CX-3 here in Malaysia at its Kulim plant. This plant currently produces Mazda 3 and CX-5. If the car will be manufactured locally in Malaysia than the Mazda CX3 price tag of RM131,218 will surely come down making it more affordable for the Malaysians.

Although, the CKD manufactured Mazda CX3 specs might loose, for example, the Mazda 3 CKD lost its sunroof and the symbolic Soul Red Metallic colour option.

Nonetheless, it can make certain that the locally-assembled car will come at a lower starting price and that will surely accentuate the rivalry between Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V, which is already being produced locally at Honda's Melaka plant.
