Ministry of International Trade and Industry to study Ora Good Cat’s usage pattern

KUALA LUMPUR: Great Wall Motor Malaysia recently presented YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry with an Ora Good Cat EV. Why?

Well, it is not for official use but for studying the electric vehicle’s daily usage pattern by MITI’s relevant departments. The effort is aimed at expediting the EVs development in terms of current priorities. Speaking of which, the Malaysian government aims to attract RM 20 billion by 2025 as an EV investment.

The Hazel Wood Beige toned Ora Good Car 500 Ultra will come in super handy for the department. As it will serve as a long-term test drive unit for the ministry, therefore supporting the government in its effort to make the country a net-zero greenhouse gas emission state.

Tengku Zafrul said, “The EV industry must be viewed holistically, including factors such as software, technical, equipment, engineering, and others, as it plays a crucial role in achieving the country’s net-zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050.”

 

Also present at the handover ceremony was Great Wall Motor ASEAN Region President, Elliot Zhang. Speaking of the EV manufacturer's support for the ministry he said, “I fully endorse Minister Tengku Zafrul’s statement on the potential of building a strong EV foundation in ASEAN countries and specifically in Malaysia to strengthen the EV network.”

He further added that GWM Malaysia’s strategic collaboration with the government would help accelerate the growth and adaptation of sustainable mobility in the country. The automaker further expressed its support towards the miniseries goal via introducing more eco-friendly mobility solutions.
