Perodua introduces Myvi hatch in Mauritius

KUALA LUMPUR: Mauritius has finally got its fair share of best of Perodua, in the form of the Myvi hatchback. The Malaysian-born automaker launched the 3rd gen Myvi in Mauritius last weekend during the Defi Media Motor Show in Port Louis.

In Mauritius, the Perodua cars are distributed by Raouf Dusmohamud & Co, and they are offering the hatch in two trim options. The Myvi 1.3 G AT is priced at 699,000 Mauritian Rupees (RM 81,300), while the range-topping 1.3 G will set you back by 775,000 Mauritian Rupees (RM 90,140). After Indonesia and Singapore, Mauritius is the third country where Myvi is being exported.

Raouf Dusmohamud & Co Ltd Managing Director Raouf Dusmohamud said, “The new Myvi is a very sophisticated and advanced product that Mauritians can truly get excited about. Plus, we’re sweetening the ownership package for our valued customers by offering free servicing up to 30,000 km with every Myvi purchase, which we are now also extending to all the other Perodua models in our current lineup, namely the Alza, Axia, and Bezza.”

With this new market on the list, Perodua’s export numbers will surely increase, thus bringing it in-line with the company’s export goal. Perodua president and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said that the company aims to export 3,270 cars in 2019, that’s a 50% more over last year’s 2,184 units. He further added, “So far this year we have sold over 1,600 units outside Malaysia and launched the Myvi in Singapore and Seychelles, respectively. The Myvi’s Mauritian debut should edge us closer to our year-end export target and boost Perodua’s brand exposure internationally, what with Mauritius being a major tourist destination.”

Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean, and it is one of Perodua’s oldest markets. The Malaysia automaker is selling cars in the island nation since 1996 and has sold over 2,400 units till date. The cars Perodua sold previously include - Kelisa, Kancil, Kenari, Rusa, Kembara along with 2nd gen Viva and Myvi. The current lineup consists of Bezza, Alza, Axia, and now the third generation Myvi.
