KUALA LUMPUR: PRO-NET, a subsidiary of national carmaker PROTON, has put its electric vehicle (EV) credentials to the test with a long-distance drive that demonstrates the real-world efficiency of the Proton e.MAS 7 Prime.

The drive, which began at Proton’s Centre of Excellence (COE), included planned stops at the Seremban R&R and a Proton e.MAS dealership in Melaka, with the return leg following the same route.
It combined highway cruising, urban driving, and mixed traffic conditions to replicate a typical ownership experience. By the end of the trip, the e.MAS 7 still had 43km of range left, bringing the total estimated driving range to 395km—well beyond its certified figure.
Throughout the journey, PRO-NET monitored and shared real-time data on the EV’s performance, reinforcing confidence in the vehicle’s battery efficiency, energy management, and long-distance capabilities.

In a first for a Malaysian automotive brand, PRO-NET streamed the entire drive live, giving audiences an unfiltered look at the e.MAS 7 Prime’s capabilities.
The event featured insights from Chief Branding Officer Pn Salawati Mohd Yusoff, alongside PRO-NET product experts and key opinion leaders in EV mobility.
Topics such as range anxiety, charging infrastructure, battery management, and overall EV ownership experience were discussed throughout the journey.

Many are still concerned about range anxiety, but this drive showed just how far the Proton e.MAS 7 can go, delivering the same confidence as a conventional car. The event not only showcased the e.MAS 7 Prime’s efficiency but also highlighted its strong market reception. To date, over 1,000 units have been delivered, marking a significant milestone for Proton’s EV division.

According to PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang, the live journey reflects the brand’s focus on transparency and innovation in EV mobility. “The Proton e.MAS 7 is designed to offer real-world practicality and long-distance capability, making the shift to electrification easier for Malaysian drivers. This initiative is about building trust and confidence in EV ownership,” he said.
Built for both long-distance travel and daily use, the e.MAS 7 Prime is equipped with an advanced energy management system that optimises efficiency.
