Proton strengthens global push, launches e.MAS 7 in Trinidad and Tobago
KUALA LUMPUR: After making its international debut in Nepal, the Proton e.MAS 7 has now entered its second global market, i.e. Trinidad and Tobago. Proton’s International Sales Division has officially launched the EV in the dual-island Caribbean nation, with local distribution handled by Ansa Motors.

The Proton e.MAS 7 is offered in a single Premium variant in the Caribbean nation. It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor generating a maximum power of 218 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Feeding the motor is a 60.22-kWh Geely Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which offers a WLTP-claimed range of 410 km.
New state-of-the-art Proton EV showroom
Alongside introducing the new model, Ansa Motors also opened the doors of a new, state-of-the-art EV showroom to offer specialised support to its growing EV customer base. Located at The City of Grand Bazaar, the new facility enables the buyers to explore the Proton EV up and close and learn EV technology in an immersive environment.
Proton cars in Trinidad and Tobago
Proton expanded its lineup in Trinidad and Tobago last year with the launch of the 5-seater X50 and the 7-seater X90 SUVs. The introduction of the e.MAS 7 highlights the brand’s growing presence in the Caribbean region and further reinforces its expansion into the global EV market.
Looking at the numbers, Malaysia's second-largest automaker has exported a total of 481 vehicles to the country to date. It includes -
- Proton X50 - 271 units
- Proton X90 - 141 units
- Proton Saga - 44 units
The numbers reveal that Proton SUVs have quickly gained the trust and admiration of car buyers in the Trinidadian market.
