Toyota Camry 2015 launched in Malaysia including a Hybrid variant

Kuala Lumpur: The moment that almost every car enthusiast in the country has been waiting for is finally here, 2015 Toyota Camry has finally been launched in the Malaysian market with three variants – 2.5 Hybrid, 2.0 G and 2.0 E, all of these will be assembled locally. This bestseller takes the centre stage again coupled with dynamic and fresh designing, a new engine assembly, incremented kit and for the first time ever with a Hybrid variant. The front of Toyota Camry sports a very muscular and agressive identity with the thin front grille covered in chrome, a big trapezoid shaped lower intake and chrome strips on the border of fog lamps. In the words of Toyota, this is the “Under Priority” and “Keen Look Identity” design philiosophy.

On the Hybird variants, these grille inserts are provided a diamond-effect, also Hybrid sports a blue Toyota logo which is pretty much the hallmark of Toyota hybrid. On the back of Hybrid there are LED combination headlamps brought together by a chrome stop and a rear bumper which has been reshaped.

 

Underneath the hood Toyota Camry 2.0E and 2.0G sport a 6AR-FSE 2.0-litre 4 cylinder petrol powered engine complimented by VVT-iW, port injection and D-4S technology. With this the maximum power output takes numbers measuring 167 PS at 6500 rpm alongside a maximum torque of 199 Nm at 4600 rpm. This new engine embedded in both of these variants can switch between two cycles – Atkinsion (for fuel efficiency) and Otto (for high power output), this brings down the fuel consumption considerably making up for a count of 7.2 litres per 100 km. Switch to the 2.5-litre Hybrid variant (with a 2AR-FXE VVT-i 4 cylinder engine) the maximum power output measures 160 PS at 5700 rpm alongside a torque output of 213 Nm at 4500 rpm, an electric motor delivering output measuring 143 PS/270 Nm, a hybride nickel-metal battery and an ECVT gearbox. The fuel consumption with this measures a very efficient 5.2 litres per 100 km.

Taking a look inside a cabin, there is a revamped blue-black illuminated Optitron Instrument panel with colored MID sitting pretty behind a steering wheel which is leather wrapped. The dual-knob layout on the 2-zone climate control have been updated to switch and buttons. The designing seems to be changed altogether with centre console, door cards, dashboard, gear knob and rear armrest all getting a Crotchwood trim (Zebrawood grain on Hybrid).

Features like rear air vents, rear-seat ISOFIX, body-colored rear and front parking sensors and keyless entry and start and body-colored rear and front parking sensors are available as a standard in all the variants. 2.0E brings you with basic features like manually-adjustable fabric seats, a standard radio with CD/MP3 Player, iPod functionality and USB and 6-speakers. Moving up to 2.0G you will find 8-way power adjustable leather seats, chrome trim for door handles, security and safety solar film and cruise control. 2.5 Hybrid however is the place where you will find everything to meet up with your luxury requirements – 7-inch touchscreen, auto wipers, LED headlamps, 10-speaker JBL Green Edge Tech sound system, Mirror Link and reverse camera and Bluetooth.

 

2015 Toyota Camry is given a price tag of RM 149,900 for Camry 2.0E, RM 159,900 for 2.0G and RM 174,900 for 2.5 Hybrid which includes insurance and GST.
