Toyota Innova - Features explained

Toyota Innova has always had been an upper hand when compared to the rest of the MPVs in the segment. This is primarily for of 2 reasons - first, its feature-laden spec sheet and second, it is from a brand that is synonymous to reliability and great after sales service (all thanks to Toyota’s nationwide service centre network. The Innova for long has served its owners well, and it needed an upgraded. Thankfully, Toyota was quick to react and came up with Innova 2.0X - new range-topping variant on October 2017, thus bringing the total to 3 models - E, G, and X. Unfortunately, because of Innova price tag of RM 132,400, buyers are a bit reluctant to put their hands this new range-topping model. However, take our word, this new addition is worth every bit of the penny charged.

Toyota Innova is currently in its third generation and like always is serving the customers well. If you are a prospective buyer looking for a luxurious eight-seater, then the Innova is an option you must consider. Here, we have listed a few of its most striking features.

LED front light setup

The next-gen Toyota Innova features an attractive light setup all over, especially at the front. The headlamps come with automatic LED projector headlamps with amazing inside elements. The daytime running lights like the fog lamps benefit from LED setup. Overall it's attractive, and illuminating, all at once.

Attention seeking grille

As far as the grille is concerned, the ongoing Innova portrays a masculine, butch looking design that really demands attention. Toyota Innova displays a wide setup of which is the part both the grille and bumper portion. It features a modern structure which includes horizontal chrome and black finish bars placed at equal distances. It looks nice and compliments the MPVs front fascia.

Striking side profile

The side profile of Toyota Innova looks attractive and it now incorporates sharp character lines. These lines run along the front and rear doors. Also, the chrome detailing on the door handles and ORVM adds up to the look. Plus the wide fenders, housing the 17-inch alloy wheels give the MPV a stronger stance. The power adjustable and retractable wing mirror integrated with turn indicator and puddle lamp add to the tech part.

Easy close tailgate

Easing the whole loading and unloading process the Innova gets an easy closer function that helps close the trunk even when you don’t give it a proper shut. Great isn’t? Just like the headlamps, the rear of Innova gets a smart looking pair of tail light. These dynamic rear combination lamps allow for clear visibility in all weather conditions. Fog lamps add more to Innova's visibility and profile.

Feature ridden interior

The interior of the outgoing Innova is packed with a number of luxurious and utility features. Toyota gives the Innova dashboard a design to die for; it’s covered in silver and wood accents expressing a modern and classy style.

As expected from the range-topping trims, the Innova spec sheet displays an 8-inch capacitive touch screen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, Wi-Fi, voice recognition, Internet browser, HDMI, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, and reverse camera. Also, the three-spoke steering wheels come wrapped in wood and silver trim and get tilt and telescopic adjustments. While the 2.0X variant gets 8-way power adjustable driver seat, the rest settle for a 6-way manual adjustable seat.

Spacious cabin

Toyota Innova is an eight-seater MPV that provides the passengers with a comforting and spacious cabin. Both the front- and second-row passengers offer a sufficient amount of space to move around. However, some have complained about the cramped space when seated in the last row, making it suitable for children. Also, the Innova offers best-in-class cabin storage options with almost thirteen bottle holders.

Powerful and reliable engine

The third-gen model of Toyota Innova is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder in-line, 16-valve, DOHC with dual VVT-i engine. And it has been turned to churn out a max power of 139 PS at 5600 rpm and 102 Nm peak torque at 4000 rpm. This mill is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with a sequential shifter.

Toyota Malaysia offers the Innova in three variants - 2.0X, 2.0G (AT), and 2.0E (AT). Toyota Innova color card has seven splashes on offer - Super White II, Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metallic, Avant-garde Bronze Metallic, Attitude Black, Crimson Spark Red Metallic, and Phantom Brown Metallic. The current generation Innova comes at a starting price of RM 82,484 and goes all the way up to RM 132,400.
