Updated Bentley Bentayga Hybrid will arrive in mid-2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Bentley has given an update to its luxurious PHEV SUV, the Bentayga Hybrid for the year 2021. The said car is scheduled to launch in mid-2021 and is expected to hold a slightly premium price tag over the ongoing model.
It is part of Bentley's goal to only offer battery operated electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid cars by 2026. Also, the updated Bentayga Hybrid will be joined by the Flying Spur saloon PHEV version later this year.
Coming back to the updated Bentley Bentayga Hybrid, its exterior design adorns a new look. At the front, it gets a massive grille, crystal-cut LED matrix headlights, and wider wings. The rear also benefits from crystal-cut lighting units, elliptical brake lights, and a repositioned number plate. As for the wheel designs, exterior colours, and trims, it'll be individually customised.
The biggest change inside revolves around the infotainment unit. The ongoing model's button & knob heavy arrangement is now replaced by a touch-sensitive setup. Also, the 10.9-inch high-resolution, anti-glare, anti-reflection display comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Also, part of the connectivity kit is wireless phone chargers, USB-C ports, and My Bentley connectivity services.
Furthermore, the updated model gets new seats for better comfort, revised digital instrument cluster, new steering wheel, new door trims, and not to forget the 30 mm stretched legroom in the four-seat variant.
The new Bentayga Hybrid is powered by a petrol-electric unit like its predecessor. So, there is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor, together they make 449 PS and 700 Nm of torque.
The new model carries over the 17.6 kWh lithium battery pack that offers a pure electric range of 50 km. The car comes with a mandatory external speaker that warns pedestrians of the car when on full EV mode. The battery gets fully charged in two and a half hours at 7.2kWh of speed.
On the safety front, the car is expected to follow the suite of its predecessor that included Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Assist, Park Assist, head-up display, and Electronic Night Vision.
Following the updated 2021 Bentayga Hybrid will be followed by two PHEVs that are set to arrive before the year-end.
