Volkswagen Malaysia introduces all-new Golf R-Line; price starting from RM169,990

KUALA LUMPUR: Happy news for all prospective car buyers as Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has just introduced the all-new Golf R-Line.

Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, shared his excitement over the launch. “We are proud to be able to locally assemble the iconic Golf in Malaysia. It is also a great opportunity to own a Golf that is made by Malaysians, for Malaysians – especially with the technological advancement and features in this latest generation. Simply put, the all-new, all-digital Golf R-Line is an aspiration. It is the hatchback that you want to be seen in.”

With prices starting from RM 169,990, the new VW showcases the same, timeless Golf design language but with sportier and more expressive R-Line styling. The price includes three years of free maintenance, five years of unlimited mileage warranty, and five years of roadside assistance.

On the outside, the new VW hatch showcases an aggressive front all thanks to bits like a sleek full LED headlight with a narrow LED illuminated strip running across the front section, LED tail lights,
17-inch Valencia alloys, and a pair of chrome-effect trapezoid faux exhaust tailpipes. Not to forget the design is aerodynamically efficient.

Powering the new Golf R-line is a 1.4TSI turbocharged mill generating maximum power of 150 PS along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic shift by wire transmission.

As for the cabin, like the car’s sporty exterior, it too comes packed with several interesting bits like -

• Front sport seats wrapped in Sardegna fabric and Art Velours side bolsters
• R-line logo embossed on the headrest
• 30-colour ambient lighting
• 3-zone Climatronic air con with Air Care
• 381-litre boot space
• Automatically unlocking door
• Intelligent voice control system is activated by “Hello Volkswagen” or pressing the voice button on the steering wheel

Taking care of the hot hatch’s safety is its high-quality steel body along with several active and passive features. The list includes - Electronic Stability Control, Post Collision Braking System, Electronic Differential Lock, six airbags and more.
