Mazda recently launched its compact SUV, CX-30 in the Malaysian market which is positioned smartly between the CX-3 and the CX-5. Based on the Mazda 3 platform, the CX-30 is on offer in three variants in the country, 2.0 G SkyActiv-G 2WD, 2.0 G High SkyActiv-G 2WD and 1.8 D High SkyActiv-D 2WD. Out of which the former two are petrol trims, whereas the latter is the CX-30 diesel.

With an artful design following the company’s design language “Kodo: Soul of Motion”, the CX-30 is a sculptural piece of art that reflects purity in true sense. It comes with a sculpted design that is said to be optimized for improved aerodynamics. Built using ultra-high tensile steel, the CX-30 is rigid at the core and assures to protect occupants with advanced safety technology called i-Activesense.

This is the middle variant in the CX-30 range, which gets additional equipment in the form of adaptive LED projector headlamps with Auto High Beam function, keyless entry, powered sunroof, powered tailgate and front and rear parking sensors (four at the front and six at the rear). Inside, this variant gets additional features like dual-zone auto climate control with rear vents, paddle shifters and 10-way powered driver’s seat with 2-position memory function.

On the safety front, the premium range includes Mazda’s i-Activesense safety suite. This suite of safety features come with Smart City Brake Support, High Beam Control, Adaptive Front-Lighting System, Blind-Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Driver Attention Alert and Radar Cruise Control System.

This is the only diesel trim on offer which shares the equipment set with the CX-30 2.0 G High variant. Everything remains the same including the exterior elements, inside-the-cabin comfort and convenience features and safety.

The Mazda CX-30 is based on the Skyactiv architecture that’s highly reliable and provides stability to the vehicle. It also lends exceptional riding comfort to the driver and occupants onboard. The handling and vehicle motion are immaculate leaving the driver at peace while on the move.

Which 2020 CX-30 variant should you buy?

Well, according to us, the second variant in the line-up, the 2.0 G High is the one you should go for. It has all the features Mazda intends to offer and the only difference between this and the range-topper is of the engine. In case you are someone who prefers diesel over petrol then going with the 1.8 D High is an undisputed argument, it’s also the only diesel trim Mazda is offering with the CX-30.
