iCAUR 03 EV: Detailed in pictures

Malaysia’s first fully electric off-road SUV, the iCAUR 03, is finally here. This latest Chinese EV sets a new benchmark in the local EV arena, offering rugged off-road capability, solid performance and advanced tech, all wrapped in a tempting, accessible package.

Notably, Malaysia is the global launchpad for the iCaur brand (known as iCar in China), borne from a strong collaboration between Chery and SmartMi Tech. iCAUR entered Malaysia with a bold vision to lead the off-road New Energy Vehicles segment and resonate with a new generation of drivers.

After making its first official appearance at MAS 2025, the automaker opened its first global dealership in Glenmarie last month and now launched the iCAUR 03 as its first model in the country. The EV is offered in two variants - iCaur 03 2WD and iCaur 03 iWD, priced at RM 119,800 and RM 129,800, respectively.

Today, we will discuss the rugged styling, safety-focused engineering and creature comforts of the iCAUR 03 through a series of detailed images, highlighting what makes it a noteworthy “adventure BEV”. 

iCAUR 03 Exterior 

Born for the city yet built for adventure, the EV underpins the brand’s ‘i-BOX’ design language, combining a bold, boxy silhouette with full-electric performance. 

Front profile

At the front of this rugged SUV, we can find a wide, multi-slat grille flanked by unique I-shaped LED headlights and vertical daytime running lights. Further reinforcing its adventure-ready image are angular cuts and practical detailing.

Ideal for tackling rough terrains, the iCAUR 03 features enhanced ground clearance and short front overhangs that support a 28° approach angle.

Side profile 

The boxy EV has straight, purposeful lines across the side profile, combined with chunky cladding, flared-out fenders and retractable door handles. Adding to the convenience are electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors. 

The side design also features off-road angles and alloy wheels with sizes ranging from 18- to 19-inch. The letter “i” can also be found on the wheel caps, highlighting the brand’s signature ‘i-BOX’ styling. 

Rear profile 

The LED tail lights mirror the headlight theme with an I-shaped signature and are paired with rear fog lights. The rear design also supports off-roading with a departure angle of 32°. 

As a part of the adventure-focused design philosophy, the off-road SUV has a  90-degree swing-out functional tailgate with an integrated cargo box, which is quite useful during outdoor activities and road trips.

iCAUR 03 Interior

Designed for comfort, connection, and style, the iCAUR 03 cabin boasts a refined ambience and top-tier convenience features. Key highlights include - 

Digital displays

The cockpit features a 15.6-inch Full HD central touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor. It offers crisp visuals even in direct sunlight and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. 

Ahead of the drive seat lies an intuitive 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster that shows navigation, driving modes, EV battery stats, ADAS alerts, and other driving information.

Wireless device charger 

Keeping up with modern connectivity needs, the iCAUR 03 incorporates a 50W wireless smartphone charging system. This feature ensures that occupants can keep their devices charged without the hassle of cords. 

Sound system

The Chinese off-road electric SUV provides a fine-tuned immersive sound experience with the 12-speaker Infinity sound system. Notably, the base-spec version comes with a standard 8-speaker unit.

NFC reader

The iCAUR 03 is truly a modern, secure, and tech-loaded EV and the proof is the integration of the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology on the driver’s side wing mirror. This system allows owners to simply tap their smartphone or NFC-enabled card on the mirror to unlock the vehicle.

Ambient light

You can also light up the cabin as per your mood with the customisable rhythmic ambient lighting system. The interactive system automatically changes the lights with music. 

Panoramic sunroof

The iCAUR SUV houses a panoramic sunroof with a powered sunshade that lets passengers bask in natural light and fresh air during the journey. It can be easily opened at the push of a button to get a panoramic view of the world around you.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

The SUV features a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, providing comfortable and effortless climate control for passengers. By maintaining the desired temperature, it ensures a pleasant driving experience no matter the weather outside. 

Electric door release

Instead of traditional mechanical handles, the EV comes with electronic door release buttons, which electronically unlatch the doors. However, in case of a power failure, a built-in emergency mechanical release is also provided.

540-degree All View Monitor 

The iCaur 03 comes equipped with a 540-degree All View Monitor, which not only provides a bird’s-eye perspective but also undercarriage visibility, which is a rare and premium feature. It allows you to see obstacles underneath the car and navigate rough terrain, high curbs, or deep water with ease. 

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System 

Offering the real-time air pressure of each tyre is the built-in Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It not only ensures safety but also results in longer tyre life, fuel efficiency, and overall driving comfort.

360-degree driving video recorder

This built-in dashcam system records video from all around the car while driving, which might be useful for security, insurance claims, or just capturing scenic drives. 

Seats

The cabin ambience cocoons passengers in comfort, with ventilated and massage seats (iWD only) at the front, ventilated seats at the rear. The seats are wrapped in faux leather upholstery. The powered driver seat also offers lumbar support, memory, and a welcome function.

Boot capacity

The vehicle has a versatile boot offering 450 litres of storage, expandable to 1,238 litres with the rear seats folded. 

iCAUR 03 Drivetrain, range and charging 

The iCAUR 03 comes equipped with a compact yet powerful 6-in-1 electric drive module, which integrates the Motor Control Unit, Onboard Charger, and Converter and delivers smooth, responsive power and control on different terrains. 

The two-wheel drive features a rear axle motor, generating a maximum power of 184 PS and a peak torque of 220 Nm, whereas the rear-biased Intelligent Wheel Drive version kicks out 279 PS and 385 Nm through a dual-motor setup.

The 2WD model comes with a 65.7 kWh LFP battery, offering an NEDC-rated range of 426 km. The iWD variant, on the other hand,  incorporates a 69.8 kWh battery with up to 418 km of driving range.

The EV supports 6.6 kW AC charging and 80 kW DC fast charging. It also features a 3.2 kW Vehicle-to-Load system, allowing owners to power electronic devices and appliances directly from the car.

The EV offers up to 10 selectable all-terrain drive modes, paired with a rigid H-arm multilink rear suspension that enhances durability and axle articulation.

iCAUR Malaysia also offers the special Black Phantom Edition trim for those seeking a bolder presence. Available at an additional cost of RM 20,000, this special iCAUR 03 features an exclusive exterior body kit, matte-black finish, roof rack platform, and side ladder.
