2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 now in Malaysia, along with GLC 63 S and GLC63 Coupe

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Mercedes-AMG G63 made its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in the first quarter of this year. And it hit the market globally in June. Now, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) launched this performance SUV in the country alongside GLC 63 S and the G63 S Coupe, at the Sepang International Circuit event.

As a part of the 2019 G63 configuration under the bonnet, we get an AMG 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that produces 585 hp at 6,000 rpm and generates a maximum of 850 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 3,500 rpm. The powertrain comes coupled with a nine-speed SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G automatic gearbox. Plus, the AMG Performance 4Matic AWD helps the car race from zero to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds at a peak speed of around 240 kmph.

The Mercedes AMG G63 retains the signature rough-hewn rigid body frame, round multibeam LED headlamps, distinct protection strips, upright windscreen, exterior spare wheel cover, wheel arches, door handles with push-button, etc. The frame has been thoroughly redesigned to give an entirely new look and houses springs all-round. There is now an independent front axle double wishbone, and at the rear, we have a five-link axle. Dimensionally, it is 101 mm longer, 121 mm wider, and 40 mm taller than its older version. However, the weight reading of the car has been brought down by about 170 kgs through an optimized design and material choice.

A boost given to the dimension suggests a more spacious cabin where passengers will now enjoy better shoulder and legroom. Inside the Mercedes-AMG G63, we have air vents fashioned in turbine-style, 64-color ambient lighting, Burmester surround sound system, smart driving assistance package and a Widescreen Cockpit dual 12.3-inch display panel.

Mercedes-AMG G63 price starts from RM 1.46 million. The price value of the other two 63-series SUVs, the AMG GLC 63 S and the G63 S Coupe are RM 915,888, and RM 933,888 respectively.
