2019 Perodua Axia registers 5k bookings

KUALA LUMPUR: It has only been a month since Malaysia’s largest car manufacturer had started accepting bookings for its latest 2019 Perodua Axia. And we hear the car has already garnered more than 5,000 bookings.

Happy, but not yet satisfied with the numbers, Perodua expects the figures can go up to 6,000 orders per month, in which 1,000 units will be of the new Style trim.

The bookings for 2019 Perodua Axia started on August 22 and the car was launched last Friday. It is really exciting and interesting to see the number of orders and the company hopes of getting more. This goes in stark with the fact that the global auto sector has suffered a substantial setback in the last few months, which is showing no intentions to assuage in the coming days.

Perodua’s CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “For over a quarter of a century, Perodua has mobilised Malaysia with quality compact vehicles that offer practicality, dependability, ease to drive and low overall ownership costs. For these reasons and more, the Perodua Kancil and Viva were popular choices for an entire generation of Malaysians buying their first cars.”

The car was launched in six variants that start from the entry-level E, followed by G, GXtra, SE, Style and then the top-spec Advance. The last two are the latest additions to the Axia nameplate. The company has also introduced a few features for the first time, which include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 safety module. Moreover, the series now ditches the two different faced design language, and now all the Axia has a similar face with differences only in trim levels.

The similarity also extends in the heart of the trims, where all the variants get a 1KR-VE VVT-i 1.0-litre three-cylinder powerhouse which can push a maximum power of 67 hp along with a peak torque of 97 Nm.
