2019 Porsche Macan production begins

KUALA LUMPUR: A good news for all the customers waiting for 2019 Macan. Porsche has started the production of the updated Macan at its Leipzig plant. The first lot is dedicated to the highest selling market of the SUV, China. Though the updated Macan features subtle design changes, the majority of the updates are in terms of new high-tech features.

According to the images revealed on the internet, the first factory-built 2019 Macan is painted in Mamba Green Metallic hue for the Chinese market. According to the German automaker, Porsche China has sold more than 100,000 Macans since its launch in 2014. This enormous demand of the SUV has pushed Porsche to increase it production to 420 units per day in this month, similar to the outgoing model.

According to the Chairman of the Executive Board at Porsche Leipzig GMBH, Gerd Rupp, Macan has set the right definition of a successful model for the company in the Chinese market. In the year 2011, the model became the inspiration for a radical new beginning and the plant was expanded to accommodate the full-sized facility to manufacture Macan. The year 2014 marked the commencement of the upgraded plant with a production capacity of 40,000 units per year and the team is looking to match the same pace for the 2019 Porsche Macan.

The current capacity of the plant is 90,000 units per year for different markets across the globe. The Leipzig plant has delivered approximately 350,000 Macan all over the globe to date. Focusing on the 2019 Macan, the SUV is sleeker, sportier, and technically advanced than the outgoing model. It now features wider air intakes and the LEDs have become standard on the headlight unit. At the back, the taillights are entirely different from the existing version with a LED light strip, giving it a complete makeover. The same pattern is also witnessed on the updated SUV lineup of Audi.

The cabin has also received some minor tweaks, the most prominent is the new 10.9-inch infotainment screen. It comes with the same software as seen on the Cayenne. There are a number of new interior trim options also available to give a wider range of personalization choices to the customers. The rest of the layout is unchanged. However, the new safety features include jam assist, OffRoad precision app and adaptive cruise control.

Porsche has also kept under the hood configuration intact for the 2019 Macan with available options include a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline- four twin-turbo V6 that has the potential of 440 PS maximum power and 600 Nm peak torque.
