2019 Proton Iriz facelift revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian prime minister, Mr Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Chedet) has uploaded a video on his official Youtube channel where he can be seen driving the new Proton Iriz facelift. Thanks to him as after a lot of camouflaged test model leaks, finally people have got to see the refreshed B-segment hatch by Proton.

The model gets a lot of updates both on the inside and the outside. Speaking of the front fascia, it features newly designed headlamps which are now sharper than before. It comes with a new bumper and has a smaller intake. It comes with LED foglamps which are now bolder than the ones on the predecessor. The grille is an all-new unit and gets a chrome piece. The new Proton Iriz facelift also gets new wheels. However, the rear profile tells a different story as it features a larger section which gets a black paint job and houses the manufacturer’s logo. This makes the space for the taillights a bit shorter, making them slimmer than the outgoing model.

The bumper now gets a revised design with a smooth section that defines its simple look. The corner vents get some highlighting lines. Moreover, the number plate of the car gets a lower position than the predecessor. Also, the new model does not have faux F1-style brake light as the current one. Not much has been known about the interior the car. However, a larger touchscreen infotainment system can be spotted in the video.

The engine on the facelifted Iriz is expected to be the same as the current model. It has a 1.3-litre VVT four-cylinder petrol mill that pushes out a maximum power of 95 PS and a peak torque of 120 Nm. It also gets a 1.6-litre unit, which is tuned to churn out 109 PS of maximum power and 150 Nm of peak torque.
