2022 Honda HR-V arriving on July 14 in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, the official distribution of Honda cars in Malaysia, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd (HMSB) has finally confirmed the launch date of the highly anticipated 2022 HR-V. Over the course of a few months the automaker has teased the car several times and successfully created a lot of hype for the upcoming model in the local market.

The upcoming 2022 HR-V ordering books were opened almost a month ago and a few details were also revealed by Honda Malaysia. For instance, the automaker has confirmed the Malaysia-spec models powertrain options, available variants, and the list of standard features. However, the most important information, i.e. the price, is still under covers and we think it will only be revealed with the car’s official launch on 14th July 2022.

Now that we are here let’s quickly brush up all the information we have on the soon to launch 2022 Honda HR-V starting with variants on offer.

Once launched the all-new 2022 HR-V will be offered in four variant options namely S, E, V, and RS. All the variants will be powered by the same 1.5-litre powertrain however with different tuning.

The entry-level S model will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre mill making 121 hp and145 Nm of torque. The mid-spec E and V trims are fueled by a 1.5-litre turbo unit generating 177 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The range-topping RS version features a 1.5-litre hybrid mill with e:HEV tech & Multi-Mode Drive system; it pumps out 131 hp and 253 Nm of output.

What however remains common across the standard feature (discussed below) are the dimensions. The all-new Honda HR-V measures 4,385 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, and 1,590 mm tall.

The exterior design theme showcases a sport appearance backed by features like LED sequential turn signals, LED headlights with DRLs, LED front fog lamps, LED tail lights, and 18-inch alloys.

As for the cabin, it has been redesigned for the model year 2022 and showcases a sleeker, more premium looking dashboard. The seats are said to be more comfortable and thicker.

The top-spec RS variant gets a few add-ons over the other models like - Hands-free power tailgate with walk away function, remote engine start, walk away auto lock function, and camera-based safety tech, Honda LaneWatch. Not to forget the full suite of advanced safety systems under Honda Sensing, which includes gears like collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, auto high beam, lead car departure notification, and more.

With nearly two-weeks away from arriving in Malaysia, the 2022 HR-V is expected to be liked by the customers. However, a lot depends on the price tag too.
