2022 Porsche Macan: Redefining comfort & convenience

It was only last week that Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) launched the facelifted Macan. This is Porsche's second facelift that was revealed last year in June. The Malaysia-spec 2022 Macan is offered in three variant options - base Macan, mid-spec Macan S, and range-topping Macan GTS. They are priced as follows -

Macan	RM 433,154

Macan GTS	RM 786,232

Included in the above-mentioned prices are taxes and duties, however, it excludes on-the-road fees, insurance, and any options. Every purchase includes a two-year warranty and free maintenance package. Note the former can be extended via the Porsche Approved Warranty programme.

Now, the sole purpose of this article is to discuss the new facelifted Macan’s comfort and convenience side, which we hear is top-notch. So, let’s get started -

Cabin comfort

When Porsche says the Macan's cabin is the comfort zone for the outside, it isn’t lying. The SUV’s interior is the synthesis of a sports car and a compact SUV. The front sports seats offer a higher seating position that cocoons you in the sports car cockpit. The car’s perfect ergonomics in turn offers great control and great visibility.

Massive luggage compartment

Macan’s offers 488-litres of boot space expandable to 1,503-litres, thanks to the split-folding rear bench seat. Also, the luggage compartment is easily accessible via the automatic tailgate. Thus making it the perfect car for a wide range of leisure activities.

Towing capability

Porsche is offering an optional tow bar system with the Macan that are designed to offer high towing capacities and also comes with a 13-pin electrical socket. A rear-mounted bike carrier is also part of the kit and can fit up to two bikes.

Comfortable seats

The 2022 Macan is available in three seating configurations - 8-way with electric adjustment, 14-way with memory package, and 18-way adaptive seats with memory package.

The 8-way comfort seat with electric adjustment (for height, squab, backrest angle and fore/aft position) offer a deep, sporty seat feel. The 14-way comfort seats with memory package offer electric seat cushion depth adjustment and four-way lumbar support for front seats. Plus, there is an electric adjustment of the mirror courtesy of lighting and steering column.

The 18-way Adaptive Sports seats with memory package feature smooth-finish leather, and raised side bolsters, providing ultimate comfort and sportiness.

Sound systems

The Macan is offered in two sound systems - BOSE Surround Sound System and Burmester High-End Surround Sound-System. The former comes with 14 speakers including a subwoofer, 14 amplifier channels, centre speaker and 665-watt total output. The latter, on the other hand, includes 16 amplifier channels, 16 loudspeakers, and an active subwoofer with 300-watt Class D amplifier.

Infotainment unit

Occupying the centre of the dashboard is a high-resolution 10.9-inch touchscreen display with Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Real-time Traffic Information and route calculation with up-to-date online maps, helps one arrive at the destination faster. Also, part of the kit is - a wireless Apple CarPlay that helps you easily use various apps, Porsche Connect app that sync destinations and calendar entries, Amazon Music media streaming service, and Porsche Car Connect app that allows you to control certain vehicle functions remotely.

Advanced lighting setup

The 2022 Macan’s standard LED main headlight comes with a Porsche Dynamic Light System that allows optimum illumination of the road at all times. Also on board are - four-points DRLs, four-point brake lights, speed-sensitive headlight range control, dynamic & static cornering lights, and adverse weather function.

Available as an optional feature is the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus unit that includes a dynamic main beam and Interdiction Assistant function based on navigation data.

Enhanced safety kit

The all-new Macan comes equipped with a bunch of assistance systems, such as

• ParkAssist with active parking support (searches and recognises parking spots and take on steering at the touch of a button)
• Adaptive cruise control (regulates the speed independently while being in line with the vehicle’s speed in front)
• Lane keeping assist & Lane change assist (monitors the area behind car and its blind spots; the latter automatically steer the car back in the lane)
• Parking assistance system (optional reversing camera and Surround View)
