2024 BMW X5 facelift debuts in Malaysia; est. price begins at RM 530k

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally revealed in February last year, the all-new BMW X5 facelift is ready to make its way to Malaysia. The automaker previewed the upgraded SUV earlier this morning, which will be offered in a single locally assembled trim, the xDrive50e M Sport.

The upcoming 2024 BMW X5 facelift price is estimated at around RM 530,000 (on the road, without insurance). Included in the price is a five-year extended warranty and service package.

So, what does the new BMW X5 bring to the table? The latest model is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine and an electric motor. The said mill kicks out a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm while the e-motor is tuned to produce 197 PS and 280 Nm. The total system output is rated at 489 PS and 700 Nm, up by 95 PS and 100 Nm in comparison to the predecessor.

Sending power to all four wheels is an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and attain a top speed of 250 kmph.

Also part of the mechanical setup is a 25.7-kWh battery pack, which offers an all-electric range of 110 km (on the WLTP cycle). The battery can juice up in 4.5 hours when using 7.4 kW AC charging.

Coming to the design upgrades, the new BMW X5 benefits from a redesigned kidney grille with BMW Iconic Glow LED lighting system. The LED headlights are now 35 mm thinner and are mated to arrow-shaped DRLs. Further, adding to the robust front fascia are a redesigned air intake and a new front bumper. The SUV rides on 21-inch M V-spoke style 915M bi-colour light-alloy wheels. As far as the rear is concerned, we get new tail lights featuring a new double L-shaped signature. 

The new X5 also enjoys a revised cabin. The upgrades include a new dashboard design and BMW Curved Display with a 12.3-inch digital display cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment display powered by the BMW Operating System 8.5. It also integrates BMW Live Cockpit Professional and the BMW instrument panel, providing support for various interaction methods such as the iDrive Controller, voice commands, touch input, or optional Gesture Control.

Among the other key interior highlights are a newly-designed gear selector ambient Light Bar, Merino leather upholstery (Black/Tartufo), 415-watt Harman Kardon Surround sound system mated to 16 speakers, and Comfort Access. As for safety, there is a Parking Assistant Professional and Driving Assistant Professional package integrating a series of driver assistance systems.

The colour palette of the all-new 2024 BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport includes four striking options - Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Manhattan, and Skyscraper Grey.
