Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “In 2020, Honda Malaysia launched the 5th Generation City to a very receptive market. That year, we also raised the bar for our best-selling model by introducing the City RS e:HEV for the first time. So far, more than 68,600 units of the 5th Generation City have been sold since its launch, while in the first half of 2023, we have sold more than 10,000 units. Truly, this iconic Honda model has proven to be a favourite in its segment amongst Malaysians.”
Let’s know the new Honda City facelift upgrades in detail -
Starting with exterior upgrades, the car benefits from a new honeycomb front grille paired with a new lower grille, a newly designed “RS” emblem, new side skirting, and a new rear diffuser. Further accentuating the sporty appearance of the sedan are new bumpers and a fresh pair of 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The well-designed sedan is also longer now thanks to the refreshed bumper. The car now measures 4,589 mm in length (+36 mm), 1,748 mm in width, and 1,467 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
In terms of features, the new Honda City gets an updated Honda Sensing advanced-driver assistance pack, which now includes two new systems - Lead Car Departure Notification and Low Speed Follow. The list of continuing bits includes - Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Auto High Beam.
The rest of the things remain unchanged. As before, the sedan is offered in two drivetrain options - a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four unit making 121 hp and 145 Nm and an 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid mill that delivers up to 109 PS of maximum output and 253 Nm torque. It is worth noting that the efficient hybrid engine produces the most powerful torque in its class, which is equivalent to D-segment naturally aspirated engine torque.
