All-new 2026 BMW M2 CS makes global debut
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW has revealed the upgraded version of the second-gen M2 CS in the international market. Built at the automaker’s San Luis Potosí facility in Mexico, the latest model is touted as the most powerful rear-drive M Car on the market.

Upgraded six-cylinder in-line engine
The new BMW M2 CS is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six petrol engine that generates a whopping power of 530 PS (50 PS more than the M2) at 6,250 rpm and a peak torque of 650 Nm from 2,750 to 5,730 rpm.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with no manual gearbox on offer. It enables the vehicle to hit the century sprint in 3.8 seconds and clock a top speed of 302 kmph.

The new BMW M2 CS is 30 kg lighter than the standard M2 thanks to the use of several exterior and interior components made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic. These include -
- Exclusive black BMW M kidney grille
- M exterior mirror caps
- Carbon roof
- Front splitter in matt black
- CS-specific rear diffuser
- Lightweight CFRP boot lid with an integrated ducktail spoiler
- M Carbon bucket seats
- CFRP centre console
Being the lightest BMW M2 so far in the current generation, the vehicle equips the forged M light alloy wheels as standard.

Besides shedding weight, the high-performance sports coupe also benefits from mechanical upgrades, offering sharper handling and improved driving dynamics. The vehicle’s chassis sits 8 mm lower and incorporates bespoke tuning for the springs, dampers, and control systems.
Also new for the 2026 model year is an M Compound braking system with red callipers as standard. However, those who seek even higher levels of performance can opt for the more advanced M Carbon ceramic brake system.
Hi-tech and plush interior
Photo from BMWAlong with carbon fibre components, the cabin features Merino leather upholstery and an Alcantara sport steering wheel with a 12 o’clock red marker. Adding to the premium vibe is an anthracite headliner and illuminated CS-branded components on the headrests and door sill plates.
Parts of the feature kit are - a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 14.9-inch infotainment unit powered by BMW Operating System 8.5, Dual-zone climate control, Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, Head-Up Display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated seats, and several advanced driving assistance systems.
With these upgrades, the new BMW M2 CS promises to offer the ultimate in driving pleasure, both as a track tool and in day-to-day use.
