The Brunei launch is being handled by Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PICSB), and it is the model’s first international introduction after its rollout in Malaysia. It also marks Brunei’s second Proton model launch in 2026, following the Proton X50 that arrived there on 15 January.
Proton is pitching this Brunei debut as a key step in its export push, with Brunei described as one of the brand’s most established overseas markets, and a regular “launchpad” for new models thanks to local partner PAD Motors.
On the product side, Proton says the All-New Saga is the first export model to use the company’s Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA) platform.
The headline upgrades highlighted for the car include six airbags and a 12-inch infotainment head unit, with Proton also pointing to improvements in structural performance, safety, and connectivity.
PICSB is also linking the Saga’s export move to its longer-term manufacturing plan in Malaysia, pointing to the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) development and the ambition of positioning Tanjong Malim as a right-hand-drive hub for next-generation vehicle development.
In Malaysia, Proton claims the All-New Saga has already seen strong demand, stating that more than 20,000 units have been registered since launch.
On the export front, the company says it recorded 6,000 export units last year, and it is working towards a target where exports contribute 30% of total sales by 2030, while expanding its presence to at least 32 countries.
“The launch of the All-New Proton Saga in Brunei is a definitive statement of PROTON’s intent to grow its export volume by increasing its presence in the entry-level segment in regional markets. By leveraging on our own proprietary technology such as the AMA platform, we aim to secure a larger share of the ASEAN market while solidifying our export-led growth strategy to align with our long-term goals,” said Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Chief Executive Officer, PICSB.
For Brunei buyers, the line-up is straightforward, with two variants, Executive and Premium, and the early-bird offer aimed at the first batch of customers.
