All-new Volvo XC60 facelift on its way for Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, it’s true. Volvo Malaysia lineup will soon welcome a new and stylish XC60 facelift. The news is confirmed via a teaser image published by the automaker on its social media handles and not to forget the now active ‘registration of interest page’ on the automaker’s website.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much will the new Volvo XC60 facelift cost?
Volvo has not revealed the car's price, we expect the XC60 facelift to be available at around the same price range as the ongoing model. What is the key highlight of the new XC60 facelift?
One of the key highlights of the new XC60 facelift lies inside the cabin in the form of its infotainment software that is expected to be more advanced.Well, that’s all the automaker has revealed about the upcoming facelifted model with no other detail at all. However, the car’s global launch that took place in March this year gives us all the information we need for the time being. So, let’s check out what’s on offer -
Design
The Volvo XC60 Inscription trim level now houses a large pair of fog light housings alongside the chrome trim elements seen on the entire front lip. The chrome time is mirrored onto the rear bumpers with the exhaust outlets completely omitted from the setup. Other changes specific to the Inscription are - thick chrome vertical elements on the grille and new wheel designs.
The XC60 R-Design variant, on the other hand, features more aggressive bumper designs, and a grille with a mesh insert (instead of vertical slates). We are not sure whether or not Volvo Malaysia include the R-design trim to the range as was not offered on the pre-facelift XC60 model as well.
Interior
The key highlight of the new XC60 facelift lies inside the cabin in the form of its infotainment software that is expected to be more advanced from the ‘intelligent features’ caption on Volvo Malaysia’s marketing materials.
The new infotainment system is built on top of the Android Automotive Operating System and offers direct access to several Google services.
Engine
The underhood configuration is expected to remain unchanged on the new facelift model.
So, we expect the same two powertrain options - a T5 petrol engine and a Rechange T8 hybrid mill. The formers utilise a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder mill making a maximum power of 254 hp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The latter adds a supercharger to the above unit making it pump out 320 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Also part of the kit is an e-motor on the rear axle, the total system output rests at 407 hp and 640 Nm.
Safety
The XC60 facelift benefits from a revised Advanced Assistance System suite that features a new sensor stack.
Price
Though nothing is revealed by the automaker yet, we expect the XC60 facelift to be available at around the same price range as the ongoing model. That is RM 278,195 for the T5 Momentum and RM 324,656 for T8 AWD Inscription Plus.
