Brunei gets X70 Exclusive Edition, limited to 37 units only

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Proton X70 Exclusive Edition has made its way to Brunei and its introduction collides with the country’s 37th National Day. And therefore, the X70 Exclusive Edition is limited to only 37 units. It reminds us of the SUV’s 2019 Merdeka Edition that was launched in Malaysia to celebrate the nation's 62nd independence year.

Getting our focus back to the Proton X70 Exclusive Edition, it follows in the footsteps of the X70 Special Edition that is expected to arrive in Malaysia soon. Now, the question is what differentiates the X70 Exclusive Edition from the regular X70? We’d say quite a few things, starting with the exterior.

The X70 Exclusive Edition features a two-tone exterior finish which sees a new blue hue being paired with the black roof, rear spoiler, and ORVM. Further clarifying its identity, the limited edition model features the ‘EE’ badging on its 19-inch wheels and tailgate.

The X70 Exclusive Edition cabin like the exterior gets elements that separate it from the regular model. For instance, it gets Nappa leather upholstery in black and not brown as is the case with other trims. The rest of the cabin features remain the same.

The X70 EE under the hood configuration also remains the same, i.e., a 1.8-litre direct-injected four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol unit making a maximum power of 181 hp along with a peak torque of 285 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Proton Brunei has opened bookings for the X70 Exclusive Edition but has not yet disclosed the price. However, seeing the revision, we expect a marginal price hike.
