BYD Malaysia drops a new teaser: Is the new BYD Seal on the cards?
KUALA LUMPUR: BYD continues to dominate the electric vehicle market in Malaysia, selling 870 units in July, ahead of Proton, which sold 686 units. The automaker’s diverse lineup includes the Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, Sealion 7, and M6, and the newly launched Atto 2. And, it now teased something new with a “Coming Soon” mark.

The BYD Seal price in Malaysia ranges from RM 167,710 to RM 203,710.This teaser features two seals swimming in the sea, hinting at the arrival of the all-new Seal EV. The new BYD Seal made its way to Singapore in April this year, followed by Indonesia earlier this month. Well, it is our turn to get the updated version of the electric sedan.

Cosmetic tweaks inside and out
We can expect subtle upgrades on the exterior, like new alloy wheel designs, the addition of a panoramic sunroof, and new colour options. The cabin, however, may get some serious modifications like a new flat-bottom steering wheel, a large central floating control unit, and a new colour scheme.
DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System
The new Seal is expected to get the DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System, a suspension setup also found on the Denza D9.
Similar to the adaptive damping systems, the latest setup adjusts the firmness of the shock absorbers in real time and offers improved handling and stability. It actively manages vertical motion to tweak shock absorber behaviour as per the driving conditions.
New features
In terms of features, the upgraded Malaysia-spec Seal may get the comfort-enhancing bits recently introduced on the Indonesia-spec model. These could include -
- Sunglasses holder for added cabin convenience
- Digital key function via NFC that allows you to unlock and start the EV using your smartphone
- Bluetooth smart access feature for seamless, keyless entry and ignition
