Chery Bersama Malaysia deals: O5 under RM100k, Tiggo 8 PHEV at RM138,800

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia is marking Merdeka and Malaysia Day with Chery Bersama Malaysia, a campaign that puts genuine money off most of its SUV line-up. It runs on selected models and model years, while stocks last.

The standout is the Tiggo 8 PHEV at RM138,800 on the road without insurance. Chery lists that car at RM159,800, so that is RM21,000 off a seven seat plug in hybrid, which is a serious chunk for a family car of that size. The Tiggo Cross HEV, the easiest way into Chery's Super Hybrid setup, comes down to RM91,800 from RM99,800.

The Chery O5 gets the largest cut at RM17,000, which brings a locally assembled B segment SUV under RM100,000 and puts it right alongside the Proton X50 and Honda HR-V on price. The Tiggo 7 Pro at RM108,800 is RM15,000 down and now sits below the Proton X70, which is a strong place to be for a car with that much kit.

The Tiggo 9 is on the list at RM166,800, the same as its usual price. It is there so people can see the flagship at the roadshow rather than as a discount play, so if that is your car, the campaign is more about the experience than the price.

The PHEV battery warranty deserves a mention

All Chery PHEV models come with an extended battery warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 km. That is the kind of cover that makes a difference for Malaysian buyers moving into plug in hybrids for the first time, because the battery is usually the thing people worry about most. Pairing it with a RM21,000 discount on the Tiggo 8 PHEV is a sensible bit of thinking.

If you would rather stick with a conventional engine, the range covers the sporty Chery O5, the family friendly Tiggo 7 Pro, the seven seat Tiggo 8 and the Tiggo 9 flagship with its more upmarket cabin, comfort focus and safety kit.

The Tiggo 8 at RM115,800 is the quiet highlight, since it is the most affordable seven seater in the line-up and now undercuts most rivals in its class.

Chery Malaysia will be at MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur from 16 to 20 September, with the current range on display and the campaign deals available on site.

Existing owners are included too. All authorised Chery service centres nationwide are offering a complimentary 28 point vehicle inspection, and a single service invoice of RM1,000 or above gets you a Chery dashcam worth RM499, while stocks last.
