China-bound Nissan Sylphy revealed with e-Power technology
KUALA LUMPUR: In 2016, Nissan first introduced the e-Power engine with the Note in Japan, which has been well received by the customers. Testimony to that is the cumulative sales of all e-Power models that have surpassed the milestone of 500,000 units. Well, now the Japanese automaker unveiled the all-new Nissan Sylphy powered by this innovative technology in the Chinese market, which joins the Kicks and Serena e-Power models already available there.
For those who are unaware, Nissan e-Power tech combines a petrol engine, an electric motor, and a high-output battery pack. It is different from other hybrids as its e-motor drives the front wheels while the gasoline mill only works to charge the battery when required.
Regarding the new Nissan Sylphy e-Power specs, the automaker stated that it will generate a peak torque of 300 Nm and will consume just 3.9 liters of fuel per 100 km (25.64 kmpl). It will have five drive modes for outstanding performance and excellent fuel efficiency.
“The launch of the Nissan e-POWER Sylphy in China represents the determination of Nissan to introduce cutting-edge technologies in this core market, to accelerate the company’s vision for electrified mobility and the achievement of China’s carbon neutrality goals,” said Takeshi Yamaguchi, vice president of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. and managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company.
“e-POWER is designed to bring a whole new driving experience to customers in China in their pursuit for high-quality mobility in the era of electrification,” he added.
Nissan aims to have six e-Power models in the Chinese lineup by 2025. According to it, this will contribute to the sustainable development roadmap set by the local government and also aligns with the brand’s global goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. As a part of the plan, every new Nissan car in significant markets will be electrified by 2030.
