Get ready for a special edition X70, launching on 22nd July

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, it's true. Proton will soon be launching the all-new 2021 Proton X70 Special Edition model in Malaysia - confirms automaker's Facebook page. As per the post, the Proton X70 SE will be virtually launched on 22nd July 2021 at 11 am. Also, Proton Malaysia's official website now has a dedicated page for customers to register their interest.

Based on the ongoing X70 Premium 2WD variant, the 2021 X70 SE will be built in limited numbers, with only 2000 units on offer. It tallies the specs sheet of the 37 unit limited X70 Exclusive Edition, launched in Brunei a while back.

What do we know about the 2021 Proton X70 SE model?

Well, there is no official revelation by Proton, whatever little is known about the upcoming X70 SE is backed up by the leaked brochure images and Brunei-spec X70 SE. So, let's check out the 2021 Proton X70 SE details -

Exterior colour options: The X70 SE will get a new hue, Ocean Blue, that is not found in the existing colour palette. It will also get an alternative body colour, by the name Ruby Red

Two-tone finish: Making the special edition model look sporty and attractive is its two-tone effect. So, besides the new exterior splashes, it showcases black trim on the side mirrors, roof, and rear spoiler

SE emblem: Making sure people know about its special-edition trade, the X70 SE features the 'SE' badging on several sites like on its 19-inch wheels and tailgate. The cabin floor mates also get SE badging

Cabin inclusion: The X70 Special Edition model gets darker interior trim along with black Nappa leather upholstery with red & white contrast stitching, and steering wheel in white contrast stitching

Under the hood configuration: Like the regular X70, the 2021 X70 SE is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged mill making a maximum power of 184 PS along with a peak torque of 300 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission
