Get ready for the most powerful SUV, 2022 Aston Martin DBX S

KUALA LUMPUR: The Aston-Martin DBX is the brand’s best-selling vehicle and now the automaker is preparing to launch an even stunning version of the SUV. Called the DBX S, the upcoming Aston Martin was recently teased on the car maker’s official Facebook page with the caption, “Power takes Shape. The world’s most powerful luxury SUV.”

Obviously, a lot of stress is on ‘power’, so let’s see what the ongoing model has on offer. The ongoing range-topping DBX is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill making 550 PS of power and 700 Nm of peak torque. It is enough to reach the century mark in 4.5 seconds and allows the car to max out at 291 kmph.

So, in order to justify its ‘world’s most powerful luxury SUV’ tag the DBX S must touch at least 650 PS and 850 Nm output figures, which are Lamborghini Urus factory tune numbers.

Let us now inspect the teaser image and see what’s on offer? The upcoming DBX appears to get a more aerodynamic design with a large front splitter and chunkier rear diffuser. Also, visible are the new 10-spoke dual tone wheels.

As for the powertrain, we aren’t sure if Aston Martin fit its 12-cyl mill in the DBX S or if it will re-tune the existing V8 unit. All the questions will be answered on Feb 1, with the car’s unveiling.

In other news, Aston Martin recently announced the DBX Straight-Six exclusivity for the Chinese market. Powering it is a 3.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo V6 mill making 435 PS and 520 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. All this enables the China-limited DBX to mark 0-100 kmph run in 5.4 seconds and attain a top speed of 259 kmph.
