KUALA LUMPUR: Introduced in 2024, the GWM Tank 300 has strengthened its position as a lifestyle and off-road-focused SUV in Malaysia, with further growth momentum expected with the addition of the hybrid trim. Bookings for the Tank 300 HEV are now underway in Malaysia, and the official launch is expected to happen soon.

After making its first public appearance at the Penang Autoshow 2026, the Tank 300 HEV is expected to hit the local roads later this year.So, what does the GWM Tank 300 HEV bring to the table?
- Just like its ICE sibling, the Tank 300 hybrid is built on a ladder-frame chassis and features a retro-inspired boxy styling and genuine off-road capabilities.
- As for the drivetrain, we can refer to the Thai-spec version, which uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission.
- The engine generates a maximum power of 220 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm, while the e-motor adds 106 PS and 268 Nm. The combined output is rated at 347 PS and 648 Nm.
- It comes with off-road hardware, including dual-speed AWD, electric differential locks, Tank Turn, off-road cruise control, and a transparent underbody-style view system, features found on the non-hybrid trim.
- The hybrid SUV measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,903 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is measured at 224 mm, and wading depth at 700 mm.
- Inside, we can expect dual 12.3-inch displays, a wireless smartphone charging pad, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, and an 8-speaker audio system.
