iCAUR V23 EV local assembly begins in Malaysia; here’s what's on offer
KUALA LUMPUR: After entering the Malaysian market in September 2025, Chery’s sub-brand iCAUR began local assembly of vehicles in May this year, with the iCAUR 03 being the brand’s first model to roll off the production line at Chery Corporate Malaysia plant in Shah Alam. Well, the automaker has now started local assembly of its second model, the V23, at the same facility.

The iCaur V23 EV comes with a retro-futuristic boxy design, intelligent technology and adventure-ready capabilities, setting new benchmarks in the adventure BEV segment.This milestone marks a new chapter for iCAUR in Malaysia, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the nation’s growing automotive ecosystem. The locally assembled model retains 100% of the high-standard specifications, engineering standards, and Born To Play character as the CBU model, says the automaker.
Available in one variant only
Just like the iCAUR 03 CKD, the locally-assembled V23 is also offered in a single Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iWD) variant, priced at RM 132,780 (on-the-road without insurance). Earlier, it was offered in two CBU trims - 2WD and iWD, priced at RM 119,800 and RM 132,800, respectively.
Specifications and equipment remain identical to the CBU model
- With unibody construction, the locally assembled iCAUR V23 iWD continues to stand out for its signature retro, boxy styling, combining rugged character with modern EV appeal.
- At the core lies the same dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering a total system output of 211 PS and 292 Nm, enabling the EV to hit the century sprint in 7.5 seconds.
- The motors are fed by an 81.76 kWh NMC battery pack, which offers a driving range of 430 km (on the NEDC cycle). Using a 104 kW DC charger, the battery takes 42 minutes to replenish from 20 to 80%.
- The equipment kit remains the same as the CBU model, including LED lighting units, flush door handles, 40-litre auxiliary storage box, 21-inch wheels, 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, off-road dashboard, 6 driving modes, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7-speaker audio system, electric driver and front passenger seat, USB charging ports, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.
- As for safety, there are six airbags, a 540-degree all-view monitor, and a wide range of advanced driver-assistance systems.
The V23 CKD units are expected to arrive at iCAUR authorised dealer showrooms by the end of July 2026.
