Land Rover reveals the all-new Range Rover Sport HST

KUALA LUMPUR: Land Rover has revealed the brand-new Range Rover Sport HST, a new addition to the JLR’s (Jaguar Land Rover) family. It is the first car in the company’s lineup to feature a mild hybrid powertrain.

Powering the all-new Range Rover Sport HST is the manufacturer’s brand-new 3.0-litre straight-six Ingenium powertrain. It is further accompanied by an electrical motor and a 48-volt battery. This new engine also comes with an electric supercharger and the electric motor collects energy from regenerative braking as well. The combination of the e-motor and 3.0-litre engine offers excellent torque and improves the activation time of the stop-start system along with providing with better mileage.

The all-new engine is capable of churning out to 400 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 550 Nm. The engine is capable to accelerate the car from 0-100 kmph in just 6.2 seconds and can touch the top speed of 225 kmph. The power is channelled to all the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The active suspension with adjustable air springs and active dampers are standard. Also, the Range Rover Sport HST features the Terrain Response 2 off-road driving system.

To make the system’s efficiency best-in-class, the new Range Rover Sport HST is equipped with Jaguar Land Rover’s Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL). As per the manufacturer, the all-new engine’s CO2 emissions are 12% less than the V6 petrol engine. Moreover, there is also a special filter that reduces the emission count by 75%.

Thanks to the carbon-fibre trim and dedicated badges on the bonnet, we can distinguish the HST model from the standard Range Rover Sport easily. Also, the side vents, tailgate, and front grille are different. The buyers can choose from five different exterior color options. The car also comes with two alloy wheel design options.

The all-new Range Rover Sport HST will hit to the UK market soon, however, the automaker has not disclosed its price yet.
