Malaysia-China Amazing Trip convoy consisting of nine Proton X70s arrives at Hangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR: Embarking on an international tour is always an exciting thing to do, but may sound perplexing when asked to be done in a car. However, this is not the case with the Proton X70 owners who have just reached the city of Hangzhou to kick-off their return journey back to Malaysia.

The Malaysia-China Amazing Trip convoy organised jointly by the Kunming Scenery-Customer International Travel and the Borneo Automobile Leisure Touring Team has finally crossed its major milestone with its arrival at Hangzhou. The group composed of nine Proton X70 and several other vehicles also paid a visit to the destined Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s headquarters alongside touring the Geely Experience Centre.

The partakers themselves owned the Proton X70 of the motor-fleet. And apart from the maintenance support by Proton and its regional partners in Laos and Thailand, other expenses were borne by the participants themselves.

The whole round trip is of 13,000 km and usually takes around 33 days to complete. The partakers have traversed the streets of 13 cities across four nations. Moreover, the team will pursue the same route to reach back to Malaysia.

The convoy also explored the prosperous city of China, though this time not with the X70, as it was being serviced to complete the remaining part of the trip. The major highlight of the trip is that the X70 didn’t receive even a minor breakdown during the 7,000 km trip from Kuala Lumpur to Hangzhou. And as per Dr. Ling Tung King (the trip organiser), the convoy managed to keep an average mileage of 17 kmpl. He extended his claim and said that the Proton’s 1.8-litre turbocharged direct injection engine can handle the fuel quality variations in different regions.
