Next-Gen Honda Civic Type R Spied in Southern Europe

Kuala Lumpur: Earlier this year, Honda launched its Civic type R and now a new prototype has been spotted which resembles this car in many ways. It could be expected to be an early mule for the next Civic Type R. These fresh shots show a sporty variant of this five-door coupe.

Though it was loaded with an ample of camouflage, but one can notice the tail lamps which are joined by an arc on the boot lid, resembling that of Euro Civic. Moving towards the front fascia, the styling still shows the same Acura ILX-like design with a narrow mesh in the grilles of the lower air dam. The most striking changes can be seen along the side which features huge 20-inch wheels with rubber band tyres, Brembo brakes flared wheel arches. At the rear end, a set of triple exhaust pipes can also be found.

It is being speculated that the next-gen Civic will be a global car and its body style would sit on a new global platform. Further, it would be offered as a sedan, coupe and five-door. Plus, Si and Type R trims will eventually join the lineup.

Under the hood, it is rumoured to be powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC turbo engine. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 310 PS along with a commanding torque of 400 Nm. Further, it would be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission which channels its power to the front wheels. It would take just 5.7 seconds to complete a 0-100 kmph sprint along with a top speed of 269 kmph.
