Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV bags 6,500 bookings in 2 months, reflecting changing buyer preferences

KUALA LUMPUR: Due to rising fuel costs and recent quota reduction in BUDI95 subsidies, more and more Malaysians are opting for new energy mobility solutions for their commuting needs. This change can be observed in the rising demand for Proton e.MAS vehicles in the country, with buyers ranging across various age groups, household sizes, and driving needs.

The brand’s most recent model, the Proton e.MAS PHEV has bagged over 6,500 bookings within just two months of launch. According to available customer data, 75% of the electrified SUV buyers are family men aged above 36 years old, who use the PHEV not only for their work commutes, but also for weekend road trips.

Another notable trend is that 63% of buyers are trading in their existing petrol vehicles, such as compact SUVs and sedans, to purchase the e.MAS 7, which demonstrates a significant shift toward electrification.

What makes the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV desirable?

When it comes to price, the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV offers an affordable entry into the PHEV C-SUV segment with prices starting from RM 105,800.
