Proton e.MAS launches ‘Tell Us Why We’re #1’ contest in Malaysia, weekly winners get RM100 TNG eWallet PIN
KUALA LUMPUR: PRO-NET, a wholly owned subsidiary of PROTON, says Proton e.MAS has emerged as the No.1 electric vehicle brand in Malaysia, driven by strong sales, growing buyer confidence and a wider EV ecosystem that continues to expand.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the Proton e.MAS ‘Tell Us Why We’re #1’ contest?
It is a social media contest run by Proton e.MAS, inviting Malaysians to comment on why the brand deserves its No.1 EV title. When does the Proton e.MAS contest run?
The campaign runs from March 24, 2026 to April 14, 2026.How do I join the Proton e.MAS contest?
Participants need to follow Proton e.MAS’ official page on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, comment with one reason why Proton e.MAS is No.1, tag three friends and include the hashtag #ProtonEMASNo1EV.The company says the achievement is significant for the local market, especially with Proton e.MAS being positioned as Malaysia’s first national EV brand. According to PRO-NET, one in every two EVs sold in Malaysia in 2026 now carries a Proton e.MAS badge, underlining how quickly the brand has gained traction among local buyers.

A big part of that momentum appears to come from the Proton e.MAS 5, which is now being claimed as Malaysia’s best-selling EV model. PRO-NET says the model recorded more than 5,000 deliveries within the first two months of the year, a figure that also placed it among the country’s top five best-selling vehicles overall. If so, that would mark a notable milestone, as no EV had previously broken into that list.
The recently launched Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is also off to a strong start. PRO-NET says the plug-in hybrid has already collected over 3,500 bookings in just six weeks, suggesting there is healthy demand for an electrified model that still offers the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer trips.
Photo from ProtonBeyond sales numbers, Proton e.MAS is also leaning on a growing list of milestones to reinforce its market position. The Proton e.MAS 5 Premium was named Best Entry-Level xEV of the Year at the 2025 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, while the Proton e.MAS 7 was chosen as an official vehicle for the ASEAN Summit.
The e.MAS 7 also played a central role in the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025, leading the 10,432 km convoy across nine ASEAN countries. For Proton e.MAS, that drive served as a public demonstration of how its electrified models can cope with long-distance, real-world regional use, rather than just short urban commutes.
“Proton e.MAS’s milestone as No.1 EV brand belongs to Malaysians as much as it belongs to PRO-NET. Every booking, every review, every road trip shared online, and every owner recommendation has contributed to Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand badge,” said Puan Salawati Yusoff, Chief Branding Officer of PRO-NET.

Puan Salawati Yusoff, Chief Branding Officer of PRO-NET, added: “The ‘Tell Us Why We’re #1’ contest is our way of celebrating that shared journey and putting the spotlight back on the people who made it possible.”
The contest runs from March 24, 2026 to April 14, 2026, and is open via Proton e.MAS’ official Instagram, Facebook and TikTok channels. To take part, users need to follow the brand’s official page on the platform they are using, comment on the contest post with one reason why Proton e.MAS deserves its No.1 EV brand title, tag three friends and include the hashtag #ProtonEMASNo1EV.

Overall, the latest announcement shows how aggressively Proton e.MAS is building its case as Malaysia’s leading EV brand, not just through headline sales numbers, but also through visibility, awards, regional drives and social media engagement. Whether that lead can be sustained over a longer period is another question, but for now, Proton’s EV arm clearly has momentum on its side.
