Proton X70 selected as one of the official vehicles for MyAPEC 2020

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton X70 has been chosen as one of the official cars of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (MyAPEC 2020). The vehicle will be used to provide rides to 21 APEC Economies’ officials, who would start visiting from next year.

APEC generally promotes economic cooperation around the Asia Pacific region. It used to discuss on the liberalisation and investment. In addition, this forum also talks about different topics including women empowerment, human resource development efforts and digitalisation.

Dr Li Chunrong, the CEO of Proton, said, “Proton is proud to support Malaysia in hosting the APEC 2020. With its intelligent features, comfortable ride, refined interior and five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, we believe the Proton X70 is perfect for showcasing how cooperation between nations via forums such as APEC can help uplift each other, and thus raise the capabilities of entire industries and supporting ecosystems.”

He also added, “During the year-long programme, Proton will also maintain the fleet through its industry-leading network of 120 3S/4S outlets that will be in operation by the end of 2019.”

Proton X70 is the first car to be introduced after the brand’s collaboration with Geely. The assembly will soon be started at Proton’s plant in Tanjung Malim. It will be available in two different variants in Malaysia - Standard and Premium.

X70

Each of them gets a 1.8-litre four-pot DOHC with a turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 181 hp along with a peak torque of 285 Nm. The car can complete the famous 0 to 100 kmph print in just 10.5 seconds. The engine is further paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
