Roslan Abdullah joins GWM Malaysia as COO, tasked with long-term game plan

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has brought on board a familiar face in the local automotive scene — Roslan Abdullah has been named the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

It’s a significant move, as the company commits strongly on its local presence and sets its sights on deeper integration with Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.

Roslan’s name carries weight. With over three decades of experience in the industry, he’s been at the helm of some of the country’s biggest automotive names, known for turning brands around, building public trust, and expanding networks across the nation.

This new chapter comes as GWM shifts into high gear, eyeing a future where mobility is not only smarter and more digital, but also greener and more accessible.

Roslan will be expected to navigate the brand through these changes, anchoring his approach in sustainable business practices and aligning GWM’s direction with Malaysia’s own national mobility and electrification goals.

GWM Malaysia’s Managing Director, Cui Anqi, expressed confidence in the appointment, saying, “His leadership experience and strategic insight will be instrumental in strengthening our operations, reinforcing customer confidence and establishing GWM as a long-term player in Malaysia’s automotive landscape.”

While GWM is still relatively new in the local mainstream conversation, especially in comparison to legacy Japanese or national brands, it has been making steady progress — with several product launches, expanding showrooms, and a growing EV and hybrid lineup. Roslan’s addition signals a clear intention to stay for the long run.
